Rapid-scan (including FTIR) spectrometers are controlled through ActiveX EXE servers like Stellar1.exe which can be run standalone for setup/testing and via MEASURE/Scantraq BASIC and Excel VBA.

Stellar1.exe provides an interface to SpectraWiz drivers. Since the Server processes data (converts to %R or %T) it can be used in DESIGN as well as MEASURE. An FTG USB License Key enabled for MEASURE or Scantraq is required.

Stellar1.exe is included in the main installer Setup32.exe. Note that StellarNet1.exe is installed in the SpectraWiz directory, not in Winfilm or Scantraq.

While Stellar1.exe runs under MEASURE (Scantraq) control, it should first be verified and tested in standalone operation. This enables you to replace Coefficients C1, C2, C3. Values are saved in C:\Winfilm\Config\FtgServer.ini.

Be sure to update C1, C2, C3 (values on spectrometer underside)!!

The FTG StellarNet Server (Stellar1.exe) must be running when utilized with MEASURE (Scantraq). Start the Server and click Scan..Dark or Scan..Reference to verify correct operation. You may then take a series of measurements in MEASURE as illustrated at the bottom of this page. StellarNetScan.xlsm is also installed (..Winfilm\Excel 2007) and works with both 32 and 64-bit Excel.

As shown below, there are four BASIC macros within Scan Method StellarNet_Trns.scw. The macros can also be downloaded here.

Scan Method StellarNet_Trns.scw

There is a problem if .bas files are accidentally modified. The issue is addressed by replacing file names with BASIC code via Edit...Embed BASIC Code. Scan procedures are then 'hard-wired' into the Scan Method (*.scw) file. Please contact FTG Software with any questions.

Scan Method StellarNet_Trns_Embed.scw

IMPORTANT: When testing the StellarNet Server, select Integration Time to maximize signal without saturation in the Reference Scan. Ultimately you can plot a series of filters as shown here.
