Technical Issues - Windows VistaFilmStar runs fine under Windows Vista, but some adjustments may be required. 1. When running setup32.exe, you might get a warning message. If the setup program refuses to run at all, see #2 below. 2. If you get a fatal 'Unexpected error; quitting' message box when attempting to run a FilmStar program, you can either disable UAC (User Account Control) or (recommended) right click the link and select 'Run as administrator'. Then select Allow. The next time the program will run normally. To disable UAC, from Control Panel select User Accounts and locate the Turn User Account Control... link. Clear the UAC checkbox and reboot. Disabling UAC gets rid of annoying 'Windows needs your permission to continue' dialogs. On the other hand, you (or your IT department) might not want to disable the feature. 3. If the Security ID Module fails to work ('Security ID Module read error!', try installing the latest HASP driver; download and run program hdd32.exe. 4. Vista omits the WinHlp32.exe viewer for *.hlp help files (type used in FilmStar). On accessing help for the first time you are led to a Microsoft site. We've uploaded Microsoft's help installers for your convenience: 32-bit help installer (probably what you need), 64-bit help installer. If you download from the Microsoft site, note that '64' indicates the 64-bit installer and '86' the 32-bit installer. Apparently they think everyone knows that. |
